Bruno Filippi was born on March 30, 1900, in Italy. He was an influential figure in the individualist anarchist movement, even at his young age. He contributed greatly to the individualist anarchist ideology through his writings and actions, leaning towards a more nihilistic and illegalist perspective. Filippi’s views and actions often caused controversy and shock, but nonetheless, his influence on the ideology is undeniable.
On September 7, 1919, Filippi died while attempting to plant a bomb in a theatre filled with bourgeoisie. Despite his short life, he left a significant impact on Anarchism. His best-known work, 'The Rebel’s Dark Laughter: the writings of Bruno Filippi', showcases his fierce and uncompromising individualist stance. He advocated for complete freedom and viewed societal structures such as law and government as oppressive forces to be overthrown. His writings and actions continue to be influential in the anarchist movement.
