Marius Jacob

Marius Jacob, Pioneering Anarchist Burglar

Marius Jacob was born on September 29, 1879, in Marseille, France. He was a French anarchist who used his skills as a burglar to further his political ideals. Jacob carried out his first robbery at the age of 15 and went on to become the leader of a gang known as 'The Night Workers', who would burglarise the homes of the wealthy.

Jacob died on August 28, 1954, in Reuilly, France. His philosophy of illegalism and his overt actions against the bourgeoisie were significant contributions to anarchist thought. He edited and published several anarchist journals and was a major influence on later anarchists such as the Bonnot Gang.

In order to destroy an effect you must first destroy the cause. If there is theft it is only because there is abundance on one hand and famine on the other; because everything only belongs to some.
