Born on October 14, 1859, François Claudius Koenigstein, known as Ravachol, was a French anarchist infamous for his political violence. Ravachol turned to anarchism after experiencing firsthand the unfair treatment of the working class. He was famous for his acts of dynamite terrorism against symbols of authority, such as judges and police officers. His activities made him a symbol of revolt and desperation, leading to his execution on July 11, 1892.
Ravachol's philosophy was primarily based on anarcho-communism and illegalism. He advocated for the overthrow of governments and abolishing private property. Despite his violent methods, Ravachol is still celebrated in anarchist literature for his rebellious spirit and his disdain for conventional authorities.
